Why we should feel more and think less?

Just like every organ has a respective purpose, our mind is responsible for conscious thinking. Having said, it has become the invincible conqueror ruling (or should I say ruining) most aspects of our lives.  To think less is the need of the hour. But unfortunately, it has become the biggest challenge for most of us. Does it signify thinking is unimportant? Na... never said that! It’s a materialistic world my friend, and thinking is as essential as food. Wondering what’s the concern? Most of us cannot control: The frequency of thoughts The quality of thoughts We are so glued to our thoughts we are sub-consciously missing one vital phenomenon which makes us complete — Feeling emotions. And as a result: Most of us think more and feel less. What you don’t realize: Happiness — the ultimate purpose of life is a feeling. And only when you feel more and think less; you experience the untouched avenues of happiness. “Get out of your head and get into your heart. Think less, feel more.” ~Osho Strange: In the quest to become happy, most of us don’t pay attention to the quotient without which happiness remains an untouched dream — the feeling quotient. When I was struggling to feel happiness, never did I explore this side; never dug so deep. Or should I say missed the basics? Interestingly, even after knowing it, there remains an unsolved mystery. What? Let’s find out: No wonder, feeling emotions is important. Agreed... feeling positive emotions is vital. But are there only positive emotions? What about the negative emotions seeking reciprocation from feelings? So you see... just we think we got the answer, intrigues a big question: Is it important to feel negative emotions as well? A definite yes! Sounds silly? It’s not: This is the catch most of us miss, leading to the inability in maintaining a healthy balance in work and relationships. Look: Thinking and Feeling are two sailors of your lifeboat. While thinking sails you to the materialistic world; the feeling quotient is the captain of your inner world. Coming back to why is it important to feel negative emotions: I hate to disappoint you but only feeling positive emotions is a cowardly act. When there are highs, there are lows. Sometimes the conditions are favorable sometimes unfavorable. If there is positivity in this world, there is negativity. We... the human beings are full of emotions. When we are all smiles while feeling positive emotions, it is our responsibility to listen to the cries of negative emotions. And only then, there is an acceptance and a way out.  I don’t know much but I’m sure about this: You need to feel the negative emotions to get rid of the pain inflicted by it. Ironical warning: Running away from feeling negative emotions is easy. There are many illusionary tricks — medicines, alcohol, drugs. But is it a permanent solution? Can you escape reality? Doesn’t the negative emotions hit back harder with a stronger intensity? My dear friend... feeling the negative emotions are always better than trying to evade the unsung truth. Happiness is awareness and appreciation of the now

Some of us are busy equating happiness to the past instances while many are awaiting the happiness in the future. Only a few of us are able to realize that happiness is right here, right now in the present moment. If you don't belong to this minority category, this article is a must-read for you. In-depth Realizations... The past is gone, and the future is yet to come. You know it too. But there is a reason why I am stating the obvious. I say so to make you realize that the past cannot be changed, likewise, the future cannot be controlled. You can only take care of the things happening NOW. It is only the present moment which always stays with you. Anyone and everyone might leave you except the present moment, which will always be with you until your last breath. If you agree to it, then allow yourself to enjoy its company and make it your best friend...How? Let us find out: The essence to feel: To enjoy the present moment, the first thing you need to know is that Feel is the essence of  Happiness. So the first thing you need to do is to revive the feel.  But it is not that easy as it sounds. It is because your thoughts are dominant over your ability to feel the present moment. You need to realize that Feel is inversely proportional to Thoughts. If you are thinking more, it means you are feeling less. And if you are doing so, the upcoming part of the article is not something you can afford to miss:  Look, I am not saying that thinking is not important. Of course, it's important. Unless you think, you will not be able to plan. Planning is important to get ready to face the upcoming situations. Also, your professional atmosphere requires thinking. So yes, positive and productive thinking is important. But you need to understand that it is not thinking but negative thinking, which needs to be avoided. To avoid negative thinking, I just want you to feel more and think less. The process of negative thinking... What is the current scenario? When you are always thinking, you are not realizing that simultaneously, you are less responsive to your sense organs. Let us explore how thinking is taking a toll on your sense organs. Eyes- You are not able to view the beauty of the nature surrounding you. Nose- You are unable to feel your blessed breaths, which itself is a form of meditation. Ears- You are unable to listen to the beautiful melodies...sounds of nature, delicate words by your loved ones, and most importantly, you are not listening to your inner voice. Tongue- You are not able to feel the food bites...You are more concerned thinking about what you are eating than to feel the fact that you are eating. How to keep ourselves away from overthinking?

Sometimes, we overburden our mind with many things. The most of these many things are so petty that don't deserve a place in our minds. On the contrary, these trivial things occupy the most of our mind's space. It consumes the most of our time as well as energy, which we can utilize elsewhere. So, before we think anything, we need to prioritize our thoughts. Subsequently, it is essential to ask ourselves whether that particular matter is important now or there are other things which require our attention.  Also, what we can do is set a time limit for every work and action. Let us not over-occupy ourselves in anything for an elongated period. Let us divert our mind by indulging in something else. Indulgence in something else breaks the chain of current thoughts. Even, there are some situations where we become rattled and clueless. In those cases, we should not hesitate to take the help from people who are good at it. We should never feel ashamed as help from somebody will only enhance our skills.  Furthermore, taking breaks from work after a specified time duration is also important. It soothes our mind.  Last but not the least, spending quality time with family and friends keeps us away from stressful situations, and consequently keeps us away from overthinking. Nonetheless, it is not at that easy as it looks. Most of the times, thoughts are not under our control. Managing and prioritizing the thinking process is extremely difficult. LET US START MEDITATING.  Meditation is a channel to connect with the inner self. Until and unless we explore our inner self, we will not be able to regulate and monitor our thought process. Learning the art of Meditation may take some time, but we need to be patient. Rest assured, we will discover the magic. Moreover, once we taste its feel, the thought process shall certainly be in our control.      

How to overcome negativity?

Any single event or a set of events can trigger a thought process, which can lead to negativity. It is a vicious circle which starts with a single thought and then takes a severe form. Let us try to seek solutions. A tree cannot stand tall until it's roots are strong. Likewise, instead of wasting our energy on negativity, we should focus on the cause of the problem which is inducing negativity. Straight out, most of the times, the root cause of negativity is overthinking. A brain is a powerful tool and therefore is extremely difficult to control the flow of thoughts. Nevertheless, what we can monitor is the quality of our thoughts. We do not have to burden our mind unnecessarily with petty issues. We never realize when these small things start taking a toll on our mental health, leading to negativity.  Let us start from the beginning... Let us try to start our day with a smile even if we don't feel like smiling. It will be our conscious effort to start our day positive. Let us try to take out some time for a walk or some exercise. Definitely, it will release some happy hormones. Nature is the biggest healer and the greatest source of positive energy.  Connecting to it via meditation can do wonders in our lives. Our diet also plays a significant role in staying physically and mentally healthy. A healthy body holds a healthy brain that will help to think positively. Let us follow compassion. Helping the needy leads to contentment and eliminates negativity. Coming back to feelings, whenever we feel that something is bothering us, we should never hesitate to talk to a person who is close to us.We should never hold our thoughts, always allow them to flow out. 'Expressing' our inside world to the outside world is a deliberate attempt to convert the negativity to positivity.   We must also summon into minds that 'Change' is a part of our life. Let us grow every day by adapting to changes. Sometimes, we are afraid of changes because we enjoy our comfort zone.  However, it is necessary to choose a change over comfort zone. Small changes in life can do wonders.  A single ray of hope can vanish the darkness of our souls. Let us try to connect with the people who are less privileged than us. Surely, we will see a whole new different world. We must always keep in mind that life is too short and unpredictable to feel negativity. Let us enjoy it.                 

How can anyone feel positive with so much negativity around?

 The world is full of negative energies and negative people around us. There are many instances which we see, hear, read and subsequently feel every day. The unnatural deaths due to deadly diseases, sudden accidents, brutal rapes, fatal crimes; moreover the betrayals, hypocrisy, jealousy and many more…you are bound to feel negative. But, this is one way of feeling it. Let us introduce ourselves to another way of looking at things. Despite all of the negativity happening around us, we also have all the reasons to feel content. We have a shelter to shed, food to eat, water to drink, money to spend. On top of that, WE HAVE TIME TO THINK AND TALK ABOUT NEGATIVE/ POSITIVE while most of the people do not have time to breathe freely. Compare yourself, but with the ones who can only dream of living your life. STOP COMPLAINING. You have all the right reasons to feel positive. Start feeling and enjoying happiness NOW. Last but not the least, follow compassion. Helping others and making others happy is a definite way to feel happy and positive.
